Beginning: January 24, 2006. I was elated when Brian told me he would “fit in” our kitchen project. I needed a contractor who was willing to work within a very tight deadline. Bria was the only contractor, out of a long list I had considered, who I had trusted enough to start and finish a job on time. Once we broke ground, Brian orchestrated a flurry of activity every day of the 110-day project. His “hands on” approach including shoveling concrete for the foundation, scouring the country for walnut beams and helping lay sod when we were short-handed. During our remodeling and addition of a new kitchen, laundry, half-bath and porch, I also planned our son’s graduation party and our daughter’s wedding. As we are settling into our lovely home, my wife and I want to take a moment to personally thank you for your part in making it happen. I watched this project through various stages of construction and I realized it is not an easy job to turn an old duplex into a modern home. But believe me, the skill and pride clearly showed through in the finished product.

The recent maintenance and repair project at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion has, indeed, been one of with many special conditions, rigid scheduling requirements and unexpected additions to the scope of work. When Laura and I decided to build a home, we understood that the choice of builder was to be critical to implementing our plans exactly as we had envisioned them. We were delighted and fortunate to encounter Brian. We chose to have him build our home after touring a home with him that he had constructed. We were struck by the quality of craftsmanship and the meticulous attention to detail. We sensed that Brian was a man of integrity and honesty, whom we could trust. We were correct.

Building a house can be a very stressful experience. It was good to work with Brian, who we could trust implicitly. He implemented our plans as we desired. He always interfaced well with our architect, Linda Phillips, and our designer, Stephen Rust. He obtained the best workers possible. He always had an excellent idea of what any alteration to the plan would cost and always had suggestions of two or three different ways to do any particular project that needed to be done.

We are delighted with the final product. A well-constructed home is a pleasure to be in and we enjoy our home in every waking moment. In my many years of experience, I have found that construction projects rarely go smoothly and pleasantly, especially in restoration work. So, when a project goes smoothly and comes to a happy conclusion as did the restoration of Tavern at Arrow Rock State Historic Site, I think it is my duty and pleasure to tell the general contractor.
